The return of Transatlantic Storytelling is officially underway as 16 Ball State students have been selected to participate in the second iteration of the award-winning project with Cardiff Met University in Cardiff, Wales.
The highlight of the project will be a 12-day cultural immersion trip to Wales in late February and early March 2024. While on the ground, students will collaborate with their peers in the Cardiff Met Sport Broadcast course to produce feature stories, live sporting events, studio shows and podcasts.

I hope to get a new perspective on how people from other parts of the world look at storytelling and broadcasting. I want to make an impact in the lives of those we meet and tell their stories. I hope to come back with this trip with a new understanding the process of storytelling, and that is building trust with the athlete to tell their story.

My name is Adam Duwel and I am a Senior at Ball State Sports Link. I will be graduating a full year early to start my full-time job in May of 2024.
I have accepted a teaching job at my alma mater, Elder High School to teach Broadcasting and Media. I have always felt a calling to go back to Elder and teach. That community is so special to me and I am excited for the challenge that lies ahead.
I am interested in this project because I have never traveled outside of the country and the opportunity to tell stories of athletes that have totally different backgrounds than what I have lived through is important to me.
I will be able to grow a lot as a person and as a storyteller during this trip. This project is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, I do not see another opportunity like this coming my way in my future.
I have told plenty of stories of Ball State Athletes and have been on plenty of broadcasts here at Ball State, but getting the chance to work on international stories and broadcasts will give a unique perspective on the industry.
I will go above and beyond, first in and last-out, mentality. I will always make myself available for things that are important to me and the greater cause. I find a challenge to be an opportunity to grow. I value relationships over skills.
I hope to get a new perspective on a new culture and way of life. I have pretty much stayed around the same people and places my entire life, this trip will show me the world, I hope to take ideas that I have learned from the trip and apply it to my life back home after the trip.
