Meet Josh Brunette

The return of Transatlantic Storytelling is officially underway as 16 Ball State students have been selected to participate in the second iteration of the award-winning project with Cardiff Met University in Cardiff, Wales.

The highlight of the project will be a 12-day cultural immersion trip to Wales in late February and early March 2024. While on the ground, students will collaborate with their peers in the Cardiff Met Sport Broadcast course to produce feature stories, live sporting events, studio shows and podcasts.

Josh Brunette (Senior)

I like to think of my journey as one big learning experience.  As a student, I have always found it important to learn, no matter what the subject is, and that is a principle I carry with me throughout life.  I have learned from my own experiences and seeking knowledge from others.

My name is Josh Brunette and I am a media student in Ball State Sports Link. I am originally from Northwest Indiana, specifically Saint John.

Growing up there, I always felt more Chicago than Indiana, as I lived about an hour away from the city. However, after graduating from Lake Central High School, I went south to Ball State University in East Central Indiana.

This is now my fourth year in Sports Link and at Ball State University, and I have had experiences I will never forget here. With my experiences in Sports Link and at Ball State I have been able to find a passion for cinematography and storytelling, which are two things I hope to continue to do as I continue down my career path.

I have been able to experience multiple different opportunities already as a college student. I have interned or worked for teams at the collegiate, amateur, and professional levels as well as freelancing.

Being part of this project, I look forward to producing a feature story with my peers from Cardiff Met, working together from the beginning of the production process to the final edit.

I am interested in the Transatlantic Storytelling study abroad because it will allow me to experience something I have never done before, meet new people in new lands while experiencing different cultures, and allow me to gain knowledge and experience in my career field with a focus on storytelling.
