The return of Transatlantic Storytelling is officially underway as 16 Ball State students have been selected to participate in the second iteration of the award-winning project with Cardiff Met University in Cardiff, Wales.
The highlight of the project will be a 12-day cultural immersion trip to Wales in late February and early March 2024. While on the ground, students will collaborate with their peers in the Cardiff Met Sport Broadcast course to produce feature stories, live sporting events, studio shows and podcasts.

My goals for being a part of this project would be to elevate our pieces from a cinematography and editing aspect. Storytelling is the combination of visual and audible pieces of a subject to tell their story and convey a mood. That is the entire goal for our trip to Wales, to tell the stories of the athletes of Cardiff Met. I pride myself in being a team player, doing my role and doing to the best of my ability. Sports link and our productions are always a team effort and I feel that that’s what is needed to make the most out of our trip to Wales.
I am a senior this year at Ball State and I’ve been in Sports Link since my freshman year. I have also been working as a creative content producer for the Ball State Football Team for the last three years.
I’ve gained so much experience and real-life scenarios related to my major countless times and that is something that I am very grateful for.

I found a love for sports videography my senior year of high school, where I made hype videos for everyone of my senior year football games. These videos gave me the opportunity to join Sports Link.
I’ve been able to perfect my craft and learn a ton of new things along the way. I came to Ball State with an inability to run a camera on my own, and now I am able to film and edit any length or type of content I choose.
All of this is because of my willingness to improve. I think that’s a quality of mine that is very positive.
I’m extremely interested in this project because of everything there is to capture in Wales. Wales is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and the chance to capture its beauty through my own lens would be an amazing experience. I am extremely interested in different cultures and the chance to travel to Wales to immerse ourselves in their culture would be truly life changing. I’ve had the opportunity to help elevate tons of different pieces in Sports Link and I would love the opportunity to do so for Transatlantic Storytelling.
